you have to do the HARD things…

Shared a great post on social media during the week and thought it important to share with the entrepreneurial mothers community as well… so here it is: YOU HAVE TO DO THE HARD THINGS… and there’s a list of them! I’m pretty confident in saying that I have agonised over a number of these, if not all, through my working life and I suspect you have to. Regardless, find a way and do what you need to do… The things that no one else is doing. The things that scare you. The things that make you wonder how much…

The HUMAN Brand: How We Relate to People, Products and Companies…

“Social psychologists have determined that primitive humans, in their struggle for existence, developed the ability to judge other people almost instantly along two categories of perception, which are known as warmth and competence. In fact, all humans have a primal, unconscious ability to make these two crucial judgments with a high degree of speed and accuracy: What are the intentions of this person toward me? And how capable are they of carrying out those intentions? […] We apply these warmth and competence judgments in all our relationships, including those involving commercial transactions. Companies and brands have the same capacity to…

what to do when the diary is just way too full…

Just sometimes, Life seems to take over your diary, well it does mine at least. And that in turn leads to feeling really quite overwhelmed. That’s because (I guess I’m similar to you) you don’t want to let anyone down. I most certainly don’t. Should I have said no to a few things, probably. But when youré a solo-preneur, a solo-breadwinner and a solo-parent (a double parent actually!), you are often set to accept all that comes your way (within context) because usually something happens and not all comes together, all at once. But in my case, at the moment,…

you’ll be waiting if you are waiting for permission…

ABC Q&A aired a special extra episode tonight after securing an audience with visiting billionaire Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates. The program featured Gates as the sole guest, fronting an audience at the University of NSW with host Tony Jones. Whilst Mr Gates is interesting, impressive and industrious, he performed admirably and did himself and his causes proud. What I found even more impressive though was the quality of the thinking that had gone into the audience questioning and the Twitter feed happening concurrently. There are many who think deeply about some of the hard stuff and that buoys…

when great minds get together, beautiful things happen…

Gotta love when creative minds get together! Today I met up with one classy dame who not only knows her stuff but who is also very open about sharing. Whilst I didn’t know her that well, I suspect we are going to get to know each other a whole lot better! If the seed of an idea we were drawn to today germinates, watch out world, here we come. Why not go for ‘world domination’ I say. OK, maybe not, but get a band of merry folk together and let their creative juices flow, all idea-hell could break loose… excellent….

The Webjet “Judith Horsnell” Memorial Lunch…

Sunday (yesterday) I had the good fortune to be asked to attend and MC the 3rd Annual “Judith Horsnell Mothers Day” lunch. It all started like this… … Christmas 2010, Webjet Marketing P/L made a generous donation to the Fr Bob Maguire Foundation. Their PA, Judith Horsnell, prior to that time, had suggested to the staff to do away with Kris Kringle, and instead, donate to a local charity; the Father Bob Maguire Foundation was chosen. Tragically, Judith passed away suddenly, early in 2011. A a special bond had been established however and since then, Webjet’s employees talked about the…
